As a child, my first career aspiration was to be “an explorer.” After overcoming the sadness of learning that all landmasses on Earth had already been found and mapped, I settled on focusing on the small details. Thoughts spurned by the intuitive power of water or the collective wisdom of an ant colony filled my mind. Lichen, algae, and fungi became my source material.
As a student of nature, I find boundless inspiration in the ways in which our world orders itself. In awe, I reflect on Earth’s infinite patterns. This sort of universal order informs my worldview, and consequently, my creative endeavors. I believe all matter is connected. My work reflects my concern for ecological balance, and in turn, a balance for humanity. In my own small way—through paint—I strive to glorify the wonder of our world, and offer up a challenge for all--to protect our verdant Earth and create a more peaceful society.
